KB0162 - Add-in logging folder in Resource Central 3.8

Summary

There are two scenarios:

  • There has been no Resource Central (RC) add-in installed on the machine, and now RC 3.8 add-in is installed.
  • Add-in of a RC version (before RC 3.8) exists on the machine, and now RC 3.8 add-in is installed on top of it.

The subsequent content clarifies where Add-in logs are stored in each scenario.

Scenario 1: RC 3.8 add-in is installed from scratch.

In this situation, RC 3.8 add-in logs are archived in “Applications” entry under Windows Logs folder.

And this is the only place where RC add-in logs are archived.

Scenario 2: RC 3.8 add-in is installed on top of older version.

In this situation, the add-in logs of RC 3.8 are archived in “Applications” entry under Windows Logs folder. But legacy add-in logs (of older RC version) can still be found in “RC Outlook Addin” entry under Applications and Services Logs folder.

So in this situation, add-in logs are found in two places:

Add-in of RC 3.8

“Applications” entry under Windows Logs

Add-in of a RC version (before RC 3.8)

RC Outlook Addin” entry under Applications and Services Logs folder. Contains legacy logs only.

How to delete “RC Outlook Addin” entry

If you want to remove the legacy folder from the Event Viewer, follow these steps:

  1. Open Registry Editor as Administrator
  2. Look for this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\eventlog\RC Outlook Addin
  3. Delete that key and close the Registry Editor.
