Knowledgebase: RealTime Service
KB0150 - RealTime Service cannot receive push notifications from Active Directory

Environments

The described symptoms may appear:

1) If RealTime Service is deployed outside company firewalls and RealTime Service accesses AD Online or AD on premise

2) If RealTime Service is deployed on premise and RealTime Service accesses AD Online

Symptom

RealTime Service has been granted LDAP access to Active Directory and EWS access to an Exchange server. But still RealTime Service cannot receive the push notifications for the AD changes.

You can see the RealTime Service error messages in the following figure:

Figure 1. AD synchronization is lost

Cause

There are two possible situations when AD notifications can be lost and the above messages are produced:

1. RealTime  server is stopped or network connection with AD server was lost

2. RealTime server is physically far from AD server and having timeouts when listening for notifications

Work around

In order to get rid of the AD synchronization error messages, you can stop the notifications from the Domain controller and do a manual full AD synchronization.
