Knowledgebase: Ariadne
Editors not working on Windows Vista and Windows 7

Summary

This article applies to the following:

Ariadne 2.x

Problem

When a user tries to open an editor (template or layout), the following error is presented:

Error in INTRINSICS_onclic
[object Error]
TypeError
'editorFrame.DOM' is null or not an object

Cause

The Ariadne editor uses a component wich is built into Microsoft Internet Explorer 6. IE6 is used on Windows XP and Windows Server 2003, and the editor component is preserved even when you upgrade the OS to use IE7 or even IE8.

With the introduction of Windows Vista and Windows 7 a more recent version of Internet Explorer is used, where this editor component is not available.

Workaround

Only workaround in this case is to use a pc with Windows XP.

With Windows 7 Microsoft has introduced XP mode, which gives you access to XP without having to use a seperate computer.
